Respect with Integrity of Design & Craftsmanship equals value

Thorough planning is the foundation of all great projects!

Renovating or adding on to your home is disruptive at best but the rewards can be life changing. We want the entire process of designing and building your project to be enjoyable and fulfilling for you and us. During the design phase our mission is to extract your visions, needs and wants and turn them into a project that you can afford. We help you prioritize these elements. You may not always be able to get all that you want within your budget. You need to know the trade offs and options available. During the construction phase in your home, we act as if we are guests that would like to be invited back. There is open and frequent communication and design refinement if needed during the project.

GETTING STARTED

Call us to speak to Alex Post. During your initial phone call Alex will find out more about you and your project. This is also a good time to start asking questions about Stonegate. We will try to make sure that we do the type of work that you want, we are right for you and what design process would be the most appropriate for you. We then can schedule an appointment for you to come into our office.

If your project includes kitchen or bath cabinetry we may have a designer from Cabinet Showplace involved from the beginning. We also work with other cabinet shops and interior designers as well as your own design specialists if need be. We work as a team on designs. You, the designer(s) and the construction side are the team. This assures you a well thought out design that is beautiful as well as buildable.

THE FIRST MEETING

We always have the first meeting in our office in Purcellville, VA. Having this meeting here lets us show you the most about us. You will usually meet Alex, cabinetry designer if needed and many times Jeff Lutman . You can see our showroom, more pictures, references and a tour of our 3d computer aided design capabilities. We will discuss your ideas, budget, the cost of design and what is included in the design phase and the construction phase. And of course answer all of your questions.

HOME VISIT

If after the first meeting you feel that we may be able to help you and would like a quote for a Design Proposal, we will make a short visit your home to get a better feel for the project. With that knowledge we will then send you a Design Proposal. All Design Proposals include a proposed construction budget approved by the client.

DESIGN PHASE

This phase starts with a more formal interview to reiterate and clarify your wants, needs, budget and priorities. 1-2 hours. We will then make a preliminary construction estimate with many assumptions included.

First design session- the designer will have “sketches” in the computer. You will pick a direction for your project and start an interactive design process. Talk about ideas and see them evolve. We limit these sessions to no more than 3 hours. You take home the plans and a viewer to see them in 3d on your own computer. The ideas from the design sessions will be further developed in the computer by the designer

Additional design sessions- interactive refinement of the design and or specifications depending on the design options you choose.

ESTIMATING

When the design is close to final, we will start the estimating process by having a sub day at your home. The subs and our lead carpenter will examine the actual construction needed. This helps to determine construction methods and lets us work them into the Final design. Final Design is achieved when the design elements have been successfully integrated, pending the fix price Proposal. A Fixed Price Proposal for Construction will be presented to you. If needed, Revised Proposal(s) will follow to adjust for deviations from the design and or budget.

CONSTRUCTION PHASE

Upon approval of the Proposal we will submit a Construction Contract to you for approval. Once signed, we start the construction drawings to submit to the County for a building permit.Construction is usually started soon after the issuance the building permit. A schedule is made. Then the fun really begins. We finalize any selections as early as possible so as not to delay construction. We stay with your project until completion.
